GRR: HS Girls
British Columbia Elite 7s defeated the ATAVUS Selects 19-7 Saturday in Sam Boyd Stadium to win the Girls Elite bracket at the Las Vegas Invitational.
It was an impressive run for the ATAVUS squad, which beat Utah, tied Auckland Marist, and beat Rhino Rugby Academy to make the semis. There they beat the Minnesota Tundra 25-7 to book a spot in the stadium.
The Girls Open 7s at the LVI produced some lovely pieces of drama, and also showed that the unity of playing as a single school can sometimes trump the elite play of a select side.
Danville gained another win from Alameda, making it the fourth strong performance of the season, but there's more to do.
Danville took 68 points from Clayton Valley, 24 points from Bishop O’Dowd, 10 points from Pleasanton, and 61 points from Alameda.
East Idaho’s Rugby Rendezvous was, in Bingham United boys coach Ryan Woodland’s opinion, a success - 11 high school boys teams and three high school girls teams came out to the pre-season event to see where they stand against their competition and see where to go from here.
Fallbrook Girls HS team got past one of their more difficult opponents in Southern California this past weekend, defeating ICEF 51-19.
It was a classic game of two halves, with Fallbrook winning the first half, and ICEF the second, but Fallbrook’s control of the first 35 minutes was total.
