GRR: HS Girls
Grandville defeated Berkley 37-10 Saturday to win the Michigan girls HS state championship.
This was Grandville's third-straight state title. Led by captain and MVP Bethany Gable, and with some excellent play from sophomore Corryn Bush, Grandville finished off this season with their winning streak now at 29.
The 2017 National High School Girls Championships is looking for applicants for the 2017 tournament.
Grandville and Berkley won their playoff pools in Rugby Michigan's Girls HS playoffs. Grandville outscored their opponents 103-7, while Berkly shut out Traverse City and just got by a tough Sparta team.
Bethany Gable scored five tries in two games for Grandville.
The championship game is set for November 12 in Brighton, Mich.
The United girls program won three out of four tournaments in the Utah Youth Rugby fall series, finishing 22-1-1 and the tiop 7s team in the state.
United won the Pink 7s tournament this past weekend and in the fall outscored opponents 810-91. Their only loss was 5-0 to Kau Toa. Their only tie was to Colorado team Summit HS, 17-17.
The White Horse Girls RFC finished their undefeated 2016 Fall 7s season with a Pennsylvania State Championship, going 5-0 in the state championship tournament this past weekend
White Horse went 3-0 in pool play and then defeated Kiski Valley in the semis, and Valkyries in the final.
