GRR: Woodlands
It's time to bring back our Gamebreakers column as boys HS rugby is now in (almost) full swing.
We saw some excellent clutch plays and strong performances around the country this past week, from West Virginia out to Southern California. Here's a look at some special efforts from High School rugby around the nation:
Dallas Jesuit and Strake Jesuit move on in their winning ways in Rugby Texas, while the Woodlands also looked strong this weekend.
The Rangers of Dallas Jesuit got two tries from Charlie Freeman and tries from Robert Triantos, Marshal Neri, Brennan Graham, and lock Alex Johnson in a 36-17 defeat of Lake Travis to move to 3-0. It was the Rangers first win over Lake Travis since 2018.
The Woodlands Youth Rugby Club will be holding its annual Come and Take It Tournament this year after having to cancel it last spring due to the COVID shutdowns.
The tournament will be held on February 13 at The Woodlands Township’s Gosling Sports Fields in The Woodlands, Texas.
Conner Mooneyham couldn't really believe it.
Told he would be the #1 choice in the Major League Rugby collegiate draft—the first #1 pick in the history of the draft—kind of sat him down for a minute.
Cal has got another good one coming in next fall as The Woodlands No. 8 Tom Dixon is set to join the Cal Bears.
The High School All American logged ten tries in his team’s first three games, causing all sorts of problems for opposing defenses.
