GRR: Utah Cannibals
Herriman HS back Taysan Hammer is leading the team in tries so far in the Utah Youth Rugby Fall 7s Series.
Hammer has scored 18 tries in ten games so far, and his coach said Hammer has made strides this fall.
The Utah Cannibals U18 Open squad, composed mostly of U17 and U16 players won the Victoria International 7s Boys Open bracket Saturday, defeating British Columbia 27-12 in the final.
The Utah Cannibals claimed the Boys U18 division at the 49th Annual Denver 7s Boys High School Championship last weekend, defeating their own U16 team in a sudden death final.
Archmere won the Boys HS Open and the Maryland Exiles won the Boys HS Elite 7s at the HSRC in Chester, Pa. Sunday.
Archmere defeated Media 22-5 in the semis, and West Chester downed Downingtown 21-12 to make the championship game.
The Utah Cannibals, Utah Youth Rugby’s High Performance Program, have been accepted to play in the world’s largest and most prestigious youth 7s event in the world, the HSBC’s Rosslyn Park Sevens, in London, UK, next March.
The last US select side to compete in the HSBC Rosslyn Park 7s was the HS All Americans in 2013.
