GRR: USA Women 7s
The USA Women 7s team has been in Brazil for four days now, acclimating to Sao Paulo’s humidity and training in intermittent rain, as the second leg of the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series looms ahead. The Sao Paulo 7s will kick off this Saturday, Feb. 7, and the USA will look to improve upon its 7th place finish in Dubai.
(USA Rugby Press release) CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The Women’s Eagles Sevens will continue their 2014-15 World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series campaign next month at São Paulo Sevens, with two substitutes made to the squad that finished seventh in Dubai.
A disappointing end for the USA Women at the Dubai 7s, as the Eagles dropped its Plate semifinal 24-21 to Fiji. The Americans played catch-up the entire match and could subdue the Fijians' unconventional, erratic style.
Canada came into the women's Dubai 7s with one of the most seasoned lineups, and that fact reiterated itself during the team's 36-0 Cup quarterfinal win over the U.S. The Eagles had a successful day one, going 2-1 and coming within one try of New Zealand, but all confidence belonged to Canada on day two of competition.
