GRR: USA Rugby South
The USA South Panthers U19s defeated Bermuda U19s 27-14 to win the Rugby Americas North U19 championship for the third year in a row.
Backed by an outstanding defense, the Panthers went 5-0, and it was only in the final that they actually allowed any tries. They wrapped up the tournament scoring 144 points and allowing 26.
Trinidad & Tobago beat Mexico 32-17 for 3rd.
The USA South team at the RAN U19s is happy with the start of the tournament—two wins and no tries allowed—but there is work to do.
Two Wins for USA South U19s at RAN Tournament Day 1
USA Rugby South opened up their Rugby Americas North U19 account with two victories Wednesday.
The RAN U19 championships is played among national teams from North America and the Caribbean. Canada does not send a team, and the USA would basically win so comfortably as to make participation a negative for everyone involved.
Repeating in any age grade tournament is never easy and this year's National Youth 7s Championship was no exception.
Panther Rugby repeated as the National Youth 7s Rugby U16 champions, beating Gorilla in the final.
In a back-and-forth final PRA saw Gorilla come back to tie the game at 19-19 late before Panther pulled away with a converted try to win it 26-19.
