GRR: University of Kentucky
Kentucky staked its claim to being the top side in the SCRC and, perhaps, the whole of D1AA in the fall with a 40-25 defeat of South Carolina.
With that win and Tennessee’s very close 31-29 victory over Alabama the SCrC semifinals are set for two weeks hence.
In what might be a bit of a surprise result, Clemson edged Tennessee 27-26 over the weekend in SCRC action.
Clemson was coming off a recent loss to Kentucky and a 51-12 loss to Penn State, meaning there was some question as to where they might fit in a very competitive SCRC.
The University of Kentucky rode a huge first half to win the Mint City Bowl over Colorado State.
Kentucky came into the game determined to show they were quite possibly the best DIAA team in the nation but negating CSU's kicking game and winning the field position contest. They did that, while CSU made some uncharacteristic mistakes that hurt them.
One of the more interesting results of the weekend in men's college rugby was Kentucky's tie with Ohio State.
There are now only two undefeated teams left in the SCRC DIAA conference.
Tennessee beat Alabama 34-7 to move to 3-0, while Kentucky beat South Carolina 39-24.
For Kentucky, this was a sure sign they have improved since their preseason loss to Thomas More back in September.
