GRR: Tournaments
UMW won the 2018 Cherry Blossom 15s Tournament this past weekend, going 6-0 over two days and scoring 229 points to their opponents' 37.
This historic tournament, in its 52nd year, featured Virginia Tech, SUNY Oswego, RPI, Christendom, Univ of MD, Georgetown, Xavier of Cincinnati, Salisbury, and Towson St among others.
It's been a thrilling day at the Pacific Cup in Hawaii, with the USA-based teams showing very well in a tight, competitive tournamnt.
Two-time defending champs Danville out of Northern California ended the day 2-0, as did the Coastal Dragons of Southern California, and Hawai'i-based St. Francis. They were the only three teams undefeated.
The Pacific Cup kicks off in Oahu on Thursday, with teams from Utah, California, Arizona, Hawai'i, Tonga, Cook Islands, and New Zealand in a highly challenging boys HS tournament.
The teams will play shortened games over the first two days, setting up the final full-length games.
Gonzaga HS defeated Fort Hunt 10-3 to win a somewhat rain-soaked Jesuit Classic Sunday.
With rain limiting some of the games, not all of the brackets were played to a conclusion, however the cup bracket was.
Morven Park will host the Maryland Exiles International Youth Festival this weekend with 28 Boys Varsity and JV teams.
The Elite Bracket includes West Shore United and Downingtown out of Pennsylvania, West End and Prince William out of Virginia, and Loyola-Blakefield out of Maryland, Also in the six-team bracket is Natyre Shores out of Ontario, Canada.
