Orange Lutheran put a bit of a scare in Southern California's top team Torrey Pines over the weekend.
One of the big developments in Southern California's school-team seasons is the easing of the division between the SoCal Youth Rugby teams and the SCIRF teams, and that has led to a big game Tuesday night in the San Diego area.
Southern California HS teams have been testing each other out before the Christmas break to get themselves prepped for the regular season ahead.
That regular season kicks off really soon—the first weekend in January in fact—so there isn't much time for these teams to get themselves up to speed.
Torrey Pines defeated St. Francis 31-14 to win the All-California single-school championship.
(This championship does not include the SCIRF teams as it's played between the winners of SoCal Youth Rugby and Rugby NorCal). This takes the championship to Southern California for the first time. De La Salle took 3rd over San Clemente in the 3rd-4th game.
