Doylestown capped off a hugely successful weekend Sunday with a 38-10 defeat of Downingtown to win the Rugby Pa Boys HS Club title.
In addition, the Doylestown U15s won their state championship, while their U13s lost in the final.
BLUE BELL, Pa. -- The Cumberland Valley High School Boys’ Rugby team made it two state championships in a row today, defeating Conestoga High School 32-5 at Montgomery County Community College, the site of the 2015 Pennsylvania Rugby State Championships.
The Valkyries (4-1) have taken over the top spot in Rugby Pennsylvania’s girls high school division. The team has rallied since an early-round loss to State College, and has one more league match against Penn Legacy (Hempfield) before hosting the state playoffs on May 16-17.
Downingtown defeated North Philly 68-3 Thursday night to cap off their regular-season in the Rugby Pa Boys Club White division with a 6-0 record.
This was the fourth league game where Downingtown had denied their opposition a try, and in fact Downingtown only surrendered 36 points in those six games.
West Allegheny remains the top team in Rugby Pennsylvania’s single-school Blue Division with two victories in the past week, 63-13 over Fox Park, and 8-0 over Woodlands Hills.
