Goff Rankings
Very few changes in this week's Boys Single-School rankings as most of the teams did what was expected.
We had some teams we might have let slide out, but we also wanted to add some teams in due to various results, so we've expanded to 35.
Well, it had to happen. With the #2 and #3 teams playing each other, the #1 team, Life, was in jeopardy unless they won big over #7 Davenport. They didn't. LIfe edged Davenport 28-25, and BYU edged St. Mary's 32-28. The results move the Cougars of Provo up to #1 and Life slips to #2.
A few things have happened since our last Girls High School Top 20 ranking. State titles have been awarded, and even more SBROs held fall 7s series. For those teams that contest their 15s season in the spring, preferential treatment was given to those who participated in a fall 7s league.
Three months have passed since the last Women DII College Top 20 ranking, and that waiting period was necessary. Even though spring leagues began in January, a disconcerting amount of forfeits and cancelations – across all in-season leagues – stunted the judgment process. The inconsistent competition has made it easier to keep those “idle” teams in the top spots and reasserts their positions.
In the latest Goff Rugby Report Men's DI College Rankings, there is some notable movement. Life remains at #1 after beating two very strong ranked teams. But we might well see a new #1 after this weekend, because #2 BYU plays #3 St. Mary's. The winner could very well move up to the top spot.
