GRR: NCR D1
Brown and Fairfield won two key games in the Liberty Conference Saturday.
Brown took a big step toward being top dog in the Liberty NCR D1 with a 31-23 defeat of Iona Saturday.
Both teams entered the game undefeated in the conference.
Brown’s defense did well to frustrate Iona, especially in the first half where they took a 24-9 lead.
One more big game for Navy as we see the massive showdown between St. Bonaventure and Navy, two unbeaten teams in the Rugby East.
It's already time to think about the playoff scenarios in some conferences, and since the Liberty has multiple levels, let's look at them.
(We'll talk about DII in a separate article. Why? Because we said so.)
Liberty NCR D1As expected there are three undefeated teams in the Liberty NCR D1 league now after the weekend's action.
Principia is now 3-0 in the Big Rivers after beating Aquinas, and once again we have close and competitive games throughout this league.
Brown managed to hold off Fairfield 24-11 Friday night in a tense game that was perhaps closer than the defending NCR D1 champions desired.
For Brown Head Coach David LaFlamme, this could have been a bit of a statement win, but it wasn’t.
