GRR: Mid-American Conference
In a game that many had labeled as a possible slipup for Bowling Green, Louisville almost pulled it off, eventually going down 22-12 to the MAC Conference leaders.
Bowling Green defeated Western Michigan 39-24 in a typical intense, back-and-forth clash between the two Mid-American Conference rivals.
Bowling Green never trailed in this game, but neither team handled the wind especially well—BGSU outscored Western against the wind 17-7, and the score when WMU was against the wind the score was 22-17 for Bowling Green.
The Mid-American Conference got going this weekend with favored teams victorious.
As has been the case throughout the country, questions remain about which teams can get the numbers to compete. The MAC has started well in that regard with teams able to make their commitments.
The Mid American Collegiate Conference has set its schedule for the fall of 2021, with a couple of changes in the lineup of teams to add to the mix.
IUPUI defeated Bowling Green 26-20 Saturday in the first game for each team in well over a year.
For IUPUI this was a victory in several senses of the word as the Jaguars had to battle through losing a coach and dealing with a recalcitrant school administration.
"We got denied three times to have games," said club president Spencer Strout. "But we kept coming back."
