Men's College 7s News
Is there a trend away from 7s in college rugby?
In one sense, the answer to that question is: "obviously not." A huge number of D2 and Small College teams are playing 7s this spring, looking to compete in the CRC in the DC area (Germantown, Md.) at the end of April.
That isn't really changing much.
But elsewhere? Well, let's have a look:
The College Rugby Association of America (CRAA) will host its Spring 2023 Championship Weekend on May 5-7 at Aveva Stadium in Houston, Texas.
This year’s event will for the first time combine the 15s finals and a Rugby 7s Championship for both men and women. All of the games will be shown live on The Rugby Network.
The University of California won their ninth PAC Rugby 7s, defeating Arizona in the final Sunday at Stanford University.
The PAC 7s ran two days, with Pool Play on Day One and the semifinals and finals on Sunday.
The pools are set for the West Coast 7s collegiate tournament this coming weekend.
The tournament will be held October 22-23 at Treasure Island in San Francisco and will feature 16 very strong men's collegiate 7s teams.
Cal won the West Coast Collegiate 7s tournament hosted by Cal Poly Saturday, with the Bears' two sides going a combined 6-1.
The more experienced Cal side, playing as Cal while the younger team played as Bears, made the final against Saint Mary's, winning the game 31-14 thanks in large part to three tries in the final five minutes.
