SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal won the first major college 7s tournament of the season on the West Coast, with both its teams going 8-0 at the West Coast 7s event hosted by Cal Poly.
College rugby teams on the West Coast get on the field this week with the West Coast 7s in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
The WC 7s has undergone a bit of an organizational change with Andy Doukas taking a step back and Pete Smith stepping in.
Yes, yes Lindenwood won the men's CRC 24-14 over Life, but that wasn't all.
The tournament itself happened, with 28 men's teams and 14 women's teams and alumni/select 10s teams as well. We got to play, said so many players and coaches.
We’re in to the quarterfinals for the Men’s bracket at the CRC.
Lindenwood will play Western Michigan, Army will play Air Force, Lindenwood will play Notre Dame College, and Davenport will play James Madison.
Several of these teams encountered some stiff competition in getting to this point, and some responded well while others responded … adequately.
The Men's bracket in the CRC 7s provided several good performances and didn't look anywhere near as rusty as observers expect.
With the top four seeds, Lindenwood, Life, Army, and Davenport, all getting a bye, it was to everyone else to impress, and many did.
