Loyola of Chicago entered the 2022 fall season with all sorts of questions.
On the search for a new Head Coach after Lance Houia moved to work with MTSU, and short players, there were real questions about the competitiveness of a team that had made the national playoffs as recently as 2019.
As we say at Goff Rugby Report all the time, ranking D2 college rugby teams is difficult because most teams don't play outside their conference until the playoffs start.
It's full-on playoff time now.
We have some predictions.
Loyola's 68-0 win over Washington University should put teams on notice.
Can they beat Auburn in the Round of 16? Certainly pitching a shutout in the play-in game is something to take a look at. Winning 68-0 is an indication that this rapidly-improving team is hitting its stride at just the right time.
