GRR: Maryland Exiles
In a game that illustrated how close the top three teams in Rugby Maryland are, the Maryland Exiles were able to just get by West Carroll 15-14 this past weekend.
Capped Eagle Inaki Basauri returned to his high school team, Maryland Exiles Youth Rugby, to run a practice session during his brief Christmas Holiday before returning to his professional rugby commitments in France.
With the 2018 high school season on the horizon, the Fort Hunt Warriors have been preparing for the tough campaign ahead.
While some teams rest and relax in the fall, the Warriors have been training since November. Even though 2017 was the team’s most successful season to date, head coach Dale Roach knows that this team has even more to offer.
Some of the top rugby talent in the Mid-Atlantic will be converging on Rockville, Md. October 28 for the Halloween Sevens.
Teams such as DeMatha, Saint Johns, Calvert Hall, DC Elite, Legion, Frederick, West Carroll, and the Maryland Exiles will be there. The Exiles have a long tradition of 7s success, and DC Elite will be heavy with Gonzaga players.
Schedule
We're down to two teams in the Rugby Maryland league after Bethesda and the Maryland Exiles won semifinal games over the weekend.
The Roosters took care of West Carroll 31-14, while the Exiles, which had lost to North Bay just a few weeks ago to get bumped down to 3rd, rebounded with a convincing 45-14 victory over North Bay this time around.
