Bowling Green won big over most of their competition this year and so beating Miami 53-13 was no big surprise. But Western Michigan, which lost to Dayton earlier in the season, raised some eyebrows with a 17-12 defeat of Dayton Saturday.
Bowling Green defeated Northern Illinois 55-10 this past weekend to finish up the regular-season schedule for the Mid-Amerca conference.
BGSU has already sewn up 1st in the North Division, while Northern Illinois could not overtake Western Michigan for 2nd.
Dayton University came back twice to beat Miami of Ohio to clinch the Mid-America Conference South Division with a 21-16 victory Saturday.
With Western Michigan defeating Central Michigan 20-12, and Bowling Green defeating Cincinnati, the playoff matchups are set - Dayton will take on WMU, a team they beat earlier this season, and Bowling Green will play Miami.
