GRR: LA 7s
World Rugby has announced a change to the 2020-2021 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
After earlier shuttering the rest of the 2019-2020 season and declaring the existing standings leaders the champions (New Zealand for both men and women, as it happened), World Rugby has now been forced to adjust the coming season as well.
The total attendance for the 2020 LA Sevens has been announced at just over 31,000 for the weekend.
The USA took 5th at the LA Sevens, rebounding from a very unlucky quarterfinal to beat France and Ireland on Day Two.
Quarterfinal SadnessThe quarterfinal was distressing to watch. It wasn’t so much that the Eagles played poorly, but that they were the victims of either really poor luck or really poor refereeing.
Australia, Fiji and New Zealand all topped their pools with perfect records on an exhilarating first day of action before a robus and vocal crowd at the HSBC Los Angeles Sevens.
Well the USA needed something after a rough outing against Samoa in the opening round of the LA Sevens.
The Eagles fell behind 12-0 to Samoa, with a little bit of a defensive breakdown, and then a slightly flukey play for the Samoans, when a loose ball from a lineout just bounced Samoa's way.
