Appropriately enough USA captain Kevon Williams celebrated his 50th tournament by being the first to touch the ball and by scoring two tries as the USA men’s 7s team opened their LA 7s account with a 31-12 defeat of Samoa.
The women's rounds for Friday night are wrapped up at the LA Sevens, with one major surprise.
Brazil put in an excellent defensive performance, keeping FIji from scoring until the final seconds. Before that, Bianca Silva scored on a pick-and-run at the end of the first half and they frustrated Fijiana after that.
Los Angeles is set to welcome the world’s best 12 men’s and—for the first time ever—the 12 women’s rugby sevens teams to Dignity Health Sports Park on 1-3 March for the fifth round of HSBC SVNS 2024.
The most important game for the USA women to play in any 7s tournament is the quarterfinal.
