GRR: La Costa Canyon
Torrey Pines defeated Poway 35-7 to move to 2-0 in the Southern California Varsity Red San Diego division.

The La Costa Canyon Mavericks looked to build on their comprehensive 60-12 victory over Poway High School last week with this weekend clash with the Del Norte Nighthawks, and did so, taking a victory and moving to 2-0 in the SOCal Varsity Red San Diego division.
The Varsity Red competition in Southern California is for teams that have 100% of their roster from a single school, and it’s a competition that has been growing.
Six teams in the San Diego Division have been joined by seven teams in the Los Angeles Division, and this weekend begins a torrid run to the playoffs in late February.
La Costa Canyon High School Mavericks defeated Dana Hills in a non-league Southern California HS game this past weekend.
The Southern California High School season kicked off in grand style this past Saturday when traditional Red Division rivals Torrey Pines and La Costa Canyon co-hosted powerhouse Mira Costa and perennial contender Dana Hills, at San Dieguito Academy in Encinitas.
