GRR: Jesuit New Orleans
We're coming down to the crucial final games in the Louisiana HS rugby league.
The Bayou Hurricanes is in the middle of a late-season charge, and is now 3-0, the same record as Jesuit of New Orleans.
Jesuit of New Orleans traveled to Washington D.C. this past weekend to take on national powerhouse Gonzaga High School’s Varsity Black squad in a first ever matchup between the programs.
This was not Gonzaga's top squad, but a 2nd-level varsity team, and still a tough competitor for any team.
First, we have to admit we love going to New Orleans. The teams we play, the beauty of City Park, and the spirit of camaraderie the coaches, referees, players, and supporters exhibit are unprecedented. Both Brother Martin and Jesuit of New Orleans are class acts led by models of the culture and competitiveness of the game.
Jesuit New Orleans moved to 3-0 in Rugby Louisiana league play this weekend with a 29-19 defeat of 2015 state champs St. Paul's.
St. Paul’s jumped out to an early lead when senior No. 8 Bam Barreiro quick-tapped a penalty from about seven meters out and bulldozed his way in for five points. The conversion was good and St. Paul's led 7-0.
Texas-based Katy Barbarians traveled to New Orleans, La. this weekend to take on defending Louisiana Rugby champs Bayou Hurricanes, and runners up New Orleans Jesuit.
