GRR: Iona
The Liberty D1 season got going this weekend with four games: Brown vs Siena, Dartmouth vs Syracuse, AIC vs Fairfield, and Iona vs Fordham.
All four games were competitive, or even extremely close.
Siena defeated Iona Wednesday night in a make-up of a game that was canceled due to lightning back in September.
Iona went into the game 3-1 with Siena at 4-0.
Siena's offense was firing and they ran out to a 41-21 lead at halftime.
The team teams each scored two tries in the second half to cap it off, but in the end Siena won in a big-scoring game 55-33.
It's already time to think about the playoff scenarios in some conferences, and since the Liberty has multiple levels, let's look at them.
(We'll talk about DII in a separate article. Why? Because we said so.)
Liberty NCR D1As expected there are three undefeated teams in the Liberty NCR D1 league now after the weekend's action.
Big doings in the Liberty Conference as league-leaders Fairfield were upended by Iona in the NCR D1 conference.
The 24-16 victory put Iona at 1-0 and dropped Fairfield to 3-1 and opened things up in the conference.
It’s Lindenwood vs Kutztown and Iona vs Dartmouth in the Men’s Premier semifinals on Memorial Day in New Orleans and it’s a study in styles of play.
