GRR: HS Rankings
IN a few weeks St. Ignatius plays Xavier and, of things keep going the way they've been going, the winner of that game will be #1.
Right now Ignatius (as well as Gonzaga and, recently, St. Thomas Aquinas) are on tour overseas. That's good for the teams but difficult to judge for the rankings.
The game of greatest note this week had to have been #5 San Diego Mustangs over #3 Belmont Shore.
This is one of those games where we strongly suspected the outcome would be what it was (29-5 for the Mustangs) but had no evidence to back it up because of how the schedule falls in SoCal. We just had to wait.
Massive changes hit the HS Club Top 50, and that's partly due to results and partly do to us making mistakes.
... Or at least overlooking stuff.
An interesting phenomenon showed itself this week.
Usually, when we're asked the question as to whether the HS Clubs or Single-School teams are stronger, our answer is this: at the top, they are fairly close, but the club top list is probably a bit longer, the medium-ranked school list is a bit longer, but then there's a sharp drop.
What do you fans think?
Should St. Francis be #1? It isn't a for-sure thing that the All-California winner would be the #1. But after all of the results we've seen, and the results we've seen nationally, and with St. Francis beating De La Salle and Torrey Pines. and Jesuit Sacramento, this is the time to move such a team to #1.
