GRR: Herriman
The Herriman boys rugby program’s Gold team ran its record to 18-0 in the Fall 7s series by winning its third straight tournament.
It's the year of the horse as far as the Utah girls high school state championship is concerned. Having won their respective state semifinals last weekend, the Orem Lady Stallions and Herriman Mustangs are advancing to the state final on May 9. Orem is looking for its second consecutive state title, while Herriman will endeavor to deal the Lady Stallions their first loss of the season.
If you thought the Utah girls high school race was a two-team event, then think again. A week after lauding the Vipers’ results, Herriman has stepped into the spotlight. Trailing at the half, the Mustangs posted 34 unanswered points in the second half to defeat the Vipers 51-21 on Saturday.
Defending Utah state champs Kau Toa bested Skyline Rugby Club Saturday, showcasing a nice combinations of speed and power.
This was a big win for Kau Toa due to the history between the two teams. Last year Kau Toa's only regular season loss came at the hands of Skyline during the Utah Open Tournament, a week before the playoffs.
