GRR: Fort Hunt
It's time to finish recognizing the thrilling 2015-16 Boys HS rugby season.
The Fort Hunt Warriors concluded one of their best season Saturday with a 36-19 defeat of Prince William in the Rugby Virginia Boys DI state final.
This was Fort Hunt's third state championship in the past five years.
Forth Hunt and Prince William will meet for the Virginia state championship after both clubs won their semifinals Saturday.
For Fort Hunt, it was just another hugely impressive performance, as they slammed Newport News 59-0.
Fort Hunt came out of the Jesuit Rugby Classic with A 3-1 and another jolt of confidence for this highly-regarded Virginia team.
For Coach Dale Roach, it was a gratifying experience, shutting out St. Xavier, Gonzaga’s 2nd side, and Greenwich, before losing 24-0 to Gonzaga’s 1sts in the final.
Fort Hunt’s solid tackling and pressure defense was on display through the weekend.
No surprise that Gonzaga HS won the Jesuit Rugby Classic, but there were a few notable results aside from that.
