GRR: Florida Youth Rugby
The Orlando Griffins defeated the Okapi Wanderers 25-15 Wednesday to finish off the Florida Boys DI HS regular season.
This was a re-play of a weather postponement, and had to be played because Okapi still had a shot to make the top four and thus the Cup Semifinals.
The final week of league play is done in Florida Youth Rugby Boys DI, and Riviera Beach Maritime Academy clinched 1st place with an impressive 26-0 defeat of the Cape Pirates
The result allowed RBMA to finish 7-1-1, and with Tampa Krewe tying Orlando 12-12, Jupiter had the opportunity to jump to 2nd. This the Sharks did, defeating Naples 68-5 to move to 7-2 and taking 2nd.
The Okapi Wanderers defeated Key Biscayne 10-5 Wednesday night in a makeup game, and that result has important playoff ramifications in Florida Youth Rugby's Boys DI league
Florida’s HS competition was shaken a little bit with the news that the 3-4 Cape Pirates defeated 6-1 Tampa.
The Pirates emerged 14-13 winners in a game that may not have an enormous effect on the playoff picture, but it’s still an interesting result.
With the Krewe losing, and RBMA winning 41-27 over West Pines, it is Riviera Beach Maritime Academy that is in 1st place.
After spring breaks and Easter interrupted the Florida HS season, we're back in business and ready to finish everything up.
The top four teams will enter the Cup semifinals on April 16, with the next four playing for the Plate, and the bottom two for the Bowl.
