GRR: Awards
It's College Rugby Awards time!
It's easy to miss the fact that in their own 7s tournament last week, Kutztown not only won, they beat AIC 33-12.
Kutztown, it seems, might be poised to make some noise this spring, and they are big, powerful, skilled, and experienced. KU has a lot of talent, and one you might want to keep an eye on is freshman Dmontae Noble.
Here's a look at the HS Boys rugby players who made an impact over the last couple of weeks.
Steve Rohde, St. Thomas Aquinas (Kan.)
The St. Thomas Aquinas No. 8 was a powerful presence offensively and defensively when Aquinas beat rivals KC Jr. Blues, and also in a good showing at the Jesuit Classic.
We have two weeks of action for our latest Gamebreakers. Here's who impressed:
Nathaniel Turak, Rochambeau Roosters
Turak's goalkicking was the difference, as his team and the Maryland Exiles scored six tries each. By converting five of six tries, Turak helped the Roosters to a 40-34 victory.
The finalists for the 2016-17 Rudy Scholz Award have been named, as the search for the top men's DI-level college rugby player is now down to four.
