The Denver Barbarians squad for the USA Rugby 7s Club Nationals has been named.
Former University of Colorado All American Max de Achaval will be the flyhalf and captain of the team, and another CU standout, Logan Collins, will also suit up.
The grackle is an aggressive, fearless bird that can be a bit annoying, and perhaps the two Grackles girls 7s teams in Oregon channeled the best of their namesakes' characteristics in going 6-0 and 5-1 through the Rugby Oregon Summer 7s Series.
The New York City Sevens squads have been announced to compete in the Aviva Premiership World Club 7s events to be held at Thomond Park, Limerick August 9-10 and Twickenham, London on August 16-17. These tournaments will see the New York side drawn against international powerhouses such as Auckland, Western Province and Saracens.
The IRB has expanded the IRB Women's Sevens World Series, adding Canada and England to the series and making it a six-event circuit.
The USA returns with their tournament in Atlanta, Ga. March 14-15 (slightly later in the year than last time), while Rugby Canada's facility, Westhills Stadium, in Langford, BC will host Round 4 April 18-19.
The Kent Girls team won the RugbyWa Summer 7s Series as part of the Washington State Summer Games sponsored by Subway.
In an impressive team performance Kent beat Rainier in the final of the third tournament of the series, running away with the maximum of 88 points from the four events. Rainier finished 2nd, just ahead of Shelton, with Prairie taking 4th.
