St. Augustine Faces Off With Jesuit Saturday
This weekend features a top ten clash between Jesuit and Saint Augustine from San Diego. Both teams will meet in the bay area and play at Cal Maritime. Following the game the teams will travel to Cal to watch the Cal Invitational.
Saint Augustine brings an undefeated record and a SCIRF title to the match. Saints will depend heavily on their forward pack to control the set piece and possession. Seniors Elliot Florance and Michael Colucci have been outstanding all year for Saint Augustine and they will need to continue their high level of play against a very skilled Jesuit side.
Jesuit scrumhalf David Hause and flyhalf Hunter Modlin will control Jesuit’s wide attack and look to put their destructive centers through gaps. The defending national single-school champs found their offensive stride last week versus Servite and will look to continue their scoring. However, Saints bring an impressive defense to the Bay Area allowing under 18 points a game throughout the season.
"Our group has worked very hard all season and we look forward to testing ourselves against a quality opponent like Jesuit," said Saint Augustine head coach Ethan Willis. "We know it will take an immense effort to compete with a historically dominant program, but our players back themselves and we will be ready to go.”
Jesuit is coming off a 47-5 defeat of Servite in a clash between NorCal and SoCal teams. Now it's another crossover game.
