Update on USAR CEO Search
USA Rugby's search for a new CEO is well underway and it's possible we might get an announcement of Nigel Melville's replacement before Melville's tenure ends officially at the end of this month.
More likely, we might learn who takes over in July. What we do know is there were over 150 applicants for the job, and that list was edited down to a short list.
Those who were not put on the short list got notification (apparently a nice polite note).
The interesting aspect of the decision now is that really the ultimate job description of CEO of USA Rugby is dictated by who the Board of Directors pick. The choice could be a marketing and events specialist, or more of an operations guy who concentrates on managing the domestic game. It could be someone who serves as an overseer of the national teams and coaches. All of those things are important, but a new CEO will likely have an area where he or she concentrates.
Sources say those on the short list are from multiple backgrounds.
