The 2016 Boys HS National Championships will return to the Rugby Athletic Center (RAC) in Charlotte, NC on May 19-20-21, 2016.

As has been the case since the HSNC went back to an independent event in 2013, this will be an invitational, with participating teams having to apply and get through a selection panel to compete.

Applications to register your team for consideration will be posted at on or around January 10, 2016 (check back with Goff Rugby Report for the link), and the application will also be sent directly to past participating teams.  Applications are due back for consideration by February 15. 

A selection committee of HS coaches and advisors will select the top 12 Single-School teams and the top 12 Multi-School teams by March 1  After formal acceptance into the event, the teams will be tracked during the spring season and placed into pools in early May.

The event format will remain the same as years past with 8 teams competing in three pools (Single School, Multi School, and Combo bracket). Each team will play one full game on each day of the tournament.

For teams that wish to apply, the most important thing is to submit a complete application on time. But there are other considerations, too:

1. Have a long-standing record of success.

2. Be sure that your competitiveness last year wasn't reliant on seniors who have graduared.

3. Be confident you can make the trip to Charlotte in May - get your organizational ducks in a row as soon as you can.

4. Highlight your competitiveness against teams outside of your local region.
