Rugby East Wrap - Kutztown Rebounds
Kutztown University bounced back from last week's loss to Army to defeat St. Bonavanture 72-17 Saturday in Rugby East Conference play.
With Army playing a non-conference game against Air Force (which they won), Kutztown jumps back into 1st place. But Army still has a game to play while the Golden Bears are done.
KUtztown scored 12 tries, with Niku Kruger touching down three times and Wes Hartman and Johan Van Wyk scoring twice. Vetekina Malafu, Nuulaiti Aiava, Cap Huizenga, Jordan Ghyzal, and Alex-Faison-Donahoe all scored tries for KU.
This game ends Kutztown's Rugby East Conference season, and they look ahead to a non-conference clash with AIC November 8. Meanwhile St. Bonavanture drops to 1-5 and finishes 6th in the Rugby East. University of Buffalo ended their Rugby East season, osing all six games. Saturday it was 39-14 to Wheeling Jesuit, but UB has been competitive throughout the season and should be the stronger for the experience.
WJU is now 3-2 and next week takes on Army. Also left on the schedule is Penn State v Iona. Those two games will determine who finishes 3rd and 4th. Iona lacks the bonus points to overtake the other two. Army will need a tie with four tries or a win to secure 1st
