Conference Championships in Sight This Weekend in D1AA
We find out a lot in this week's D1AA action.
D1AA Gamebreakers From February
NCRC
The NCRC is coming down to two more league games for everyone. Effectively, Western Washington has the league wrapped up and really just has to hold form to finish off the season, even if they have two tough games against Oregon and Boise State on the horizon. But there is a good contest for all of the positions in the standings. This week WWU plays Oregon in Bellingham and the Vikings, despite having lost to the Ducks back in October, are favored to win (KO Noon PT. Live Here>>). If they do they clinch 1st and then will take on the winner of the California Conference playoff for a spot in the CRAA D1AA semis in Indianapolis.
NCRC | W | L | T | PF | PA | PD | BT | BL | Pts |
WWU | 5 | 1 | 0 | 213 | 64 | 149 | 5 | 1 | 26 |
Boise State | 4 | 2 | 0 | 137 | 162 | -25 | 3 | 0 | 19 |
Washington | 3 | 4 | 0 | 120 | 170 | -50 | 2 | 1 | 15 |
Oregon State | 2 | 5 | 0 | 170 | 195 | -25 | 3 | 1 | 12 |
Oregon | 2 | 4 | 0 | 50 | 95 | -45 | 0 | 2 | 10 |
California Conference
Who is winning in California? Well, as expected, San Diego and American Rugby (which will win via forfeit this week) are at the top with San Jose State, Claremont Colleges, and Chico State chasing.
Chico State vs San Jose State this week is a huge one for both. Chico's 38-13 loss to ARC was a pretty competitive result but we haven't seen much of them since, especially after this past weekend's game had to be called off. But it does look like it's either San Diego or ARC that will face off with WWU for that spot in the CRAA semis.
Claremont Colleges completed a tough sweep over Arizona State thanks to big games from Kanoa Parker at flanker, prop Sam Marting, and wing Walter Kuhlenkamp—Kuhlenkamp comes to the Claremont Colleges rugby team from the football team, where we played quarterback. But on the rugby field it's hist tackling that had made him stand out. Score one for tackling quarterbacks.

Those semifinals will include Iowa State (winners last week but idle this week as they build toward the final four), and Sam Houston State (who won Lonestar at the end of February).
Florida Conference
The final team to join that group will be the Florida champion. St. Thomas is looking strongest there, but Central Florida pulled off a big win last week and should provide a stern challenge. Meanwhile, rivals Florida and Florida State face off.
Chances are, we'll see Florida State vs St. Thomas in the conference final.
