Two Wins for USA South U19s at RAN Tournament Day 1
USA Rugby South opened up their Rugby Americas North U19 account with two victories Wednesday.
The RAN U19 championships is played among national teams from North America and the Caribbean. Canada does not send a team, and the USA would basically win so comfortably as to make participation a negative for everyone involved.
So instead traditionally USA Rugby South has fielded a team and, more often than not, won. Their main rivals have been Mexico, but of late Jamaica has also shown themselves to be contenders. However, Jamaica is not participating this year in Querétaro, Mexico.
On Wednesday, Mexico ran into some trouble, losing 17-10 to Bermuda before beating Cayman Islands 7-0. Bermuda went on to edge Trinidad & Tobago 14-11.
For the USA South, it was a 2-0 day, with a 34-0 shutout of Trinidad & Tobago 34-0 followed by a 31-3 defeat of Cayman Islands.
The teams will play against on Thursday, with USA South playing Bermuda and Mexico. Friday is a rest day and then on Saturday 1st plays 2nd, 3rd plays 4th, and the 5th-placed team plays Mexico's B side.
