Texas A&M shut out Texas to clamp a firm hold on the top spot in the Red River Conference.

After posting convincing wins over their first two opponents, the Aggies had to work for it a bit more against UT, but came away 34-0 winners in front of an enthusiastic crowd

A&M Head Coach James Lowrey was less than impressed with the game, however, calling it a "complacent performance."

UT vs A&M is a huge rivalry game and there's plenty of emotion involved, and Lowrey said his players had an opportunity to channel that emotion into a clinical performance. But they played too individually.

"Our forwards were terrific," said Lowrey. "But the backs on the other hand were out of sorts."

Texas was up to the challenge and battled, added the Aggie coach. "Their coaching is obviously making a difference. It was the first time that we faced a defense that was resilient. Our boys need more of that to learn how to respond."

A&M had Texas under pressure throughout the first half but managed just two tries—Dylan Dominey and Abbas Bangash getting over. But in the first few minutes of the second half Kaden Vohnout scored two tries and the game was in control after that. Lucas Corsico and John Podowski touched down later on.

That result dropped Texas to 2-1 while Baylor moved up to 2-1 with a 49-17 victory over North Texas. Nine tries from Baylor put them past UNT, with Zachary Harper and Sam Mackey each scoring two. Cannon Fritz, Carter Weeg, Ben Mallory, Jack Mullins, and Joshua Thompson added tries. 

And Oklahoma beat Texas Tech 26-7 to improve to 1-2. This was first ever Rugby Sword rivalry match played in honor of Mike Leach, who coached football at both Texas Tech and Oklahoma,and played rugby at BYU. Leach died this past December.
