Central Washington Women Down BYU
In the only major women's college rugby game of the weekend, the Central Washington University Wildcats improved to 3-0 with a 26-8 defeat of BYU in Provo.
It was a snow-covered field in Provo that welcomed the teams this morning, but BYU got going shoveling the snow off and they played the game.

In the first half CWU got a try from Tessa Hann, converted by Mikayla Roberts, in the first half for a 7-3 lead at the break. The second half flowed a little better, seeing four tries scored. BYU scored first to take the lead at 8-7, but then Hann scored her second and Spencer Bolt and Haley Abeyta also touched down, with Kai Brandt-Templeton converting two to round out the scoring.
"As predicted, BYU was even tougher the second time around," said CWU Head Coach Trevor Richards. "They caught us out of position on more than one occasion and pinned us deep with well placed tactical kicks."

The conditions didn't help as it was chilly and wet.
""Wet, cold, and snowy conditions hampered ball movement and handling was an issue for both sides," said Richards. "The second half was much better from our team and we managed to use our physicality to get us going forward and string together phases and improve our continuity. It wasn't the prettiest win of the season, but we're pleased that our players were able to gut out a win against a tough opponent in poor conditions."
