Tri-State Latest: Two Teams to 2-0
US Merchant Marina Academy moved to 2-0 in the Tri-State Conference with a 19-8 defeat of RPI Sunday.
RPI has had two competitive losses, but no points to show for their efforts as yet. Still, they may have played their toughest conference games of the season. Meanwhile, King's Point got three tries from three different players and put together a nice team effort. While USMMA is 2-0 this was actually their first game as their first win was a forfeit.
Fullback Josh Wine was very effective on counter-attack and burst through for several line breaks, taking one to the house for a try. He also executed a nice 50-22 to keep up the pressure.
Center Jack Repa scored a try and was strong on offense and Tom Thorpe also scored. Prop Jacob Paule was monstrous on defense.
Meanwile also going to 2-0 is Marist, but not in the way they wanted. Marist arrived at Seton Hall and found a Seton Hall team with a team ready to play. But, unfortunately, the university had failed to provide an athletic trainer for the game, and Seton Hall was forced to forfeit. It was a sad result and an example of how some universities hand-wave basic student needs.
