Time for Fans to Nominate a Player for the MA Sorensen Award
Fans can submit their own suggestions for nominees for the MA Sorensen Award, given each year to the top Women's Collegiate player in US rugby.
The MA Sorensen Award is named after former World Cup-winning Eagle, trailblazing coach, and hugely successful doctor Maryann Sorensen, and has been presented with the support of the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, Wash. since 2016. The winners of that award have gone on to represent the USA in 7s and 15s, and the recent USA squad at the Dubai 7s had two—Ilona Maher (2017) and Alexandria Sedrick (2020)—on their roster. The USA 15s team on tour to the USA had two more in Hope Rogers ('16) and McKenzie Hawkins ('18). The two other former winners, Richelle Stephens ('21) and Emily Henrich ('19), led their respective collegiate teams to major championships this past year, and have already been capped in 7s (Stephen, who is an Olympian) and 15s (Henrich).
