GRR: Youth
This week in Chicago is the culmination of an initiative to help grow youth and high school rugby in the region.
Yes the USA will play the All Blacks on Saturday, but there’s more going on. The AIG Rugby in a Box initiative was launched in Chicagoland, introducing the game to 200 schools and organizations.
The Northern California Youth Rugby Association finished its summer of youth and HS 7s tournaments with their championship tournament this past weekend.
Jesuit of Sacramento took top honors in the highest boys bracket, and the Sacramento Amazons were the best girls team.

Over 530 players between the ages of five and 14 participated in Utah Youth Rugby’s summer of youth 7s this year.
The season numbers four tournaments, and the participation numbers were a 15% increase over 2013, with growth at all age groups.
The biggest growth, said Utah Youth Rugby ED Michael Cressler, was in the 11-12-year-old range.
It was another busy weekend at the West Jordan sports complex in Utah as teams as young as U6 up to U14 played in the Utah Youth Rugby summer 7s series.
