GRR: Rankings
A reminder that we are ranking only those D1A, NCR D1, and D1AA teams that are playing significant seasons in the fall.
Some of these teams will be ranked both in the fall and the spring, while others will only be ranked in the fall and then at our overall end-of-season ranking.
The big results within the GRR Men's D2 Rankings environment have to be North Carolina State shutting out UNC-Wilmington and Washington University beating St. Louis University.
That would be a #20 over a #7 and a non-ranked team over a #24. We also got unranked Central Missouri over UMS&T (#23) and unranked Grand Valley State coming in after a massive win over Calvin.
Well this is a strange all-D1 rankings week as they sort some things out.
We decided to bring together all of the D1A, NCR D1, D1AA, and NCR D1AA-Club teams into one ranking. The only limit is that we're ranking teams that are schedule to play a significant fall season (so one or two games don't really count).
We are still very early on in the season, so the early results have a big effect when matched against teams that aren't playing yet.
This coming weekend we have about 70-75 men's D2 teams in action so we'll see a lot more adjustment next week.
One of the key things to remember in the early going on rankings is that teams can move very dramatically on admittedly flimsy evidence.
