LAKELAND, Fla. – The USA Rugby AIG Men’s Junior All-Americans will convene for a six-day camp just ahead of Thanksgiving in Lakeland, Fla., as preparations for next year’s Junior World Rugby Trophy begin.

USA Men’s 15s Head Coach Mike Tolkin says he is still leading a mostly amateur team to internationals this November.
While the team Tolkin was able to field against the All Blacks featured nine pros, the team that played Romania and Tonga had far fewer (this was due to a tradeoff USA Rugby made with Aviva Premiership clubs to make the top pros available for the New Zealand game).

Despite the eventually ugly score of USA v Tonga, the meat of the problems for the Eagles came down to a seven-minute period between 50 and 57 minutes. During that time, Tonga scored three tries and a penalty, good for 22 points.

The USA Men's 7s team has some work to do this week and next as it looks to Dubai and South Africa. Coach Mike Friday's team won the Bowl at Gold Coast in Australia, but they need more consistent performances to get into the top eight, and better.

So what do we want to say about the USA’s 40-12 loss to Tonga? Easy - don’t turn the ball over. That’s it. Yes the USA scrum was shoved around by Tonga’s scrum, which isn’t that good. Yes the Eagles had the ball in the Tonga 22 for long periods and didn’t score.
