A week after the Cape Pirates opened the Florida Boys HS season with a 15-0 victory over the Tampa Krewe, a full slate of games is set for this weekend.

It’s actually a quiet-ish weekend in Southern California Boys HS rugby, as Varsity Red leaders Cathedral Catholic and Torrey Pines are not playing league games.

So that leaves a battle for 3rd with Fallbrook (1-1) playing Del Norte (0-2) and St. Augustine (1-2) playing Poway (0-3). La Costa Canyon (1-1) is also idle this week.

When Keanu Andrade went to the High School All American camp last year, HSAA Head Coach Salty Thompson wasn’t quite sure what to do with him.

Sure, he was a scrumhalf with the Danville team in Northern California, but every year he accepts a disproportionate number of scrumhalves and flyhalves into camp. Andrade would have to move, but where?

It was an interesting weekend for the boys high school teams at the Storer Classic at UCLA.

Northern California power Danville was expected to do well, and did, beating Snow Canyon 26-0 and Santa Monica 24-10 (although the game was tighter than the score suggests).
