The USA Rugby South Panther program had a pretty successful weekend at the Tropical 7s, winning at three different age groups, including at the U16 level.
Mike Orefice scouted and assembled the team and Gary Anderson and Andy Thomas coached the squad.
The San Diego Mustangs defeated the SOC Raptors 31-14 in Southern California action.
Led by another massive game from lock Dylan Fortune, the Mustangs improved to 3-1 in Southern California league play, while the Raptors dropped to 2-2. Both sides have lost to Belmont Shore, who have started the season 3-0 and had no league game this week because they were attending the Tropical 7s.

Vienna won their first ever game over in-state rivals Fort Hunt Saturday, riding a torrid start and a disciplined finish to a 33-5 decision.
The victory was for more than bragging rights as the winner was guaranteed a spot at the Boys HS Rugby National Championships. Vienna, which played in Tier 2 of nationals last year, grabbed that opportunity with both hands.

Both teams started this one with younger lineups forced by a couple of key injuries amid rebuilding seasons. Match conditions weren't conducive to a flowing game with wind gusts up to 40 mph and very soft turf from recent storms that made going a slow, tough, muddy affair.
