The New York State HS 7s wrapped up its fourth week of competition building toward this coming weekend's final event.
The back-and-forth rivalry between Pelham HS and PlayRugby Academy continues, and this past weekend PlayRugby took the Boys Varsity division, garnering some payback for the prevous week's Pelham victory.
Great Falls Village in Virginia was a busy place this past Sunday as Great Falls Youth Rugby hosted its sixth annual tournament to benefit the spinal cord injury Adaptive Sports programs at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network.
This annual charity event is dear to the heart of Gary Coetzee, president of Great Falls Rugby and himself a spinal cord injury survivor.
Pelham HS beat PlayRugby in the final of the third week of New York HS 7s this pas weekend, capping off an exciting day of rugby.
PlayRugby took a 12-0 lead and held that to halftime in the final. But Pelham stormed back with three unanswered tries to win it 21-12 and maintain Pelham’s lead in the NY State series.
Rugby Ohio completed its fall 7s series with four separate brackets this past weekend.
According to Rugby Ohio, 530 athletes participated in the Fall 7s season over four weeks, playing in Social and Competitive brackets.
Matches were played on Sundays, with teams getting in a handful of games and that was it. This past weekend was the championship event.
USA Rugby is sending a Boys High School All-American team to the fourth-annual World School Sevens tournament in New Zealand.
Taking place December 13-14, the tournament will bring together 16 national men’s sides at Pakuranga Rugby Club in Auckland for a weekend of international competition.
