In the opening game of the SCIRF season, Fallbrook defeated Cathedral Catholic 33-24.
The result was certainly a signal that Fallbrook's recruiting push has succeeded.
"We just plaued our game plan and played as a team," said Fallbrook Head Coach Sierra Arteaga. "It was a very tough game and competitive on both sides."
After an early start before the winter break, the North Carolina boys High School league gears up for the meat of the season.
The Florida Rugby Invitational high school tournament is set for May 20-22 and is designed for teams who might not be going to the Boys or Girls national championships, but still want a special event in which to end the season.
The Wisconsin Youth Rugby Rugby Summit is set for January 21-22 with college recruiting options and prominent speakers, and a combine to follow on January 23, all in Oshkosh, Wisc.
The Southern California Interscholastic Rugby Federation (SCIRF) kicks off this weekend with three games in the boys competition.
The Boys Varsity sees Cathedral Catholic take on a somewhat resurgent Fallbrook on Friday, while St. Augustine meets Mira Costa on Saturday. In the Varsity Gold tier, Coronado meets Mission Bay and Steele Canyon will play La Costa Canyon.
