High School Boys
The First Annual So-Cal Holiday Scrum Down was held at La Jolla High School this past Saturday.
Torrey Pines, Carlsbad, San Marcos and La Jolla all competed in a round robin of scrimmages featuring JV and Varsity teams. It was a great Saturday evening of rugby that also brought in over one hundred gift donations for Toys for Tots.
The second annual Greer Christmas 7s Rugby Tournament is in the books with the Raleigh Redhawks girls, Pendleton boys, and Loudoun boyls all showing well.
The new-look, two-day tournament resembled last years’ one-day affair. The tourney saw many of the same teams in the Girls, Boys Gold, and Boys Silver divisions.

Not all the teams started the season ready to go, as Clayton/Corinth and Caps/Broughton both won via forfeit. Meanwhile, South Mecklenburg and Charlotte Catholic ran out to a 21-21 tie.
The two winners in actual results were Hough and Marvin Ridge.
The Southern California Interscholastic Rugby Federation (SCIRF) is entering its fifth season for boys and has shifted to a single division for this season while growing in number of teams.
All SCIRF Teams are currently under the supervision of the Athletic Director or Principal at their school, and the boys league has moved from a two-division format into a single division.
