High School Boys
The Atlantis select side program won the Boys' High School Division of the 2014 Surfside Sevens by defeating the Maryland Exiles 19-7 in the final Sunday in Stone Harbor, NJ.
It was a battle of two undefeated teams, a hard game with excellent skills on view.
The Merchant Taylors’ school, an English public school that is more than 450 years old, is touring North America and stopped in the state of Washington this past week to face Chuckanut and Eastside.
The Club 7s Championships hosted by Serevi in Tukwila, Wash. will include two high-school-age tournaments as well.
As many as eight teams are slated to play in the HS Boys bracket of the Serevi Cup, with most being select sides. Rugby Washington will field two teams, Rugby Oregon will field one, and the Eastside Lions of the Seattle Area will also play.
After three seasons in existence, the Southeast Warren High School rugby team in Liberty Center, Iowa has been granted varsity status.
The School Board voted unanimously - 4-0 - to approve the measure, capping what is a meteoric rise to varsity status, at least by rugby standards.
The Seattle Vikings once again won in Subway Washington Summer Games rugby 7s series, beating Liberty 50-7 in the final of the Boys U19 bracket, and shutting out Rainier 50-0 in the final of the U17s.
Seattle leads both the 19 boys and U17 boys series.
