Davenport opened up its fall schedule with a telling cross-divisional victory Saturday. The Panthers played Big Ten's Indiana, traditionally the runner-up to Penn State in the DI conference, and won 72-10. The DII Panthers went up 45-0 before the Redstorm got on the scoreboard.
Army (2-0) is the leading contender for “best dramatic performance,” winning its second comeback victory in as many weeks. Following a three-point win over AIC, the Cadets overcame a three-score deficit against Quinnipiac (1-1) to win 29-24.
With the exit of varsity teams AIC, Army, and Norwich, the DI Northeast conference title is for the taking. Boston University opened with a 40-7 win over Northeastern Saturday, and will be gunning for the automatic bid to playoffs with a differently styled squad.
Despite the seven-try spread, Boston did not dominate the entire match.
It really was a new-look Lindenwood that took on Northern Iowa in a DI non-conference match today, and the Lady Lions controlled the match from start to end, writing a 132-0 victory into the books. The Missouri team then added a 55-0 shutout in the B side match.
The DI scene picks up this weekend, as teams in the varsity, ACRA, and independent realms play some important games.
