College Women
Penn State is not any stranger to the women’s national final The Nittany Lions, in fact, have been in the Big Game 20 times in the last 22 years. That’s right, 20 out of 22. So it’s not really a surprise that Penn State made the final.
And going into the final, they were 10-9 in the final, so you could be forgiven for assuming one outcome or the other.
Here's the latest from three championship finals in women's college rugby Saturday.
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's rugby team won the 2016 National Intercollegiate Rugby Association 7s championship with a 15-12 victory over AIC on Saturday at Anderson Rugby Complex at West Point.
After their performance at the West Chester 7s, both Bloomsburg and Kutztown entered the MARC 7s with a thirst to prove that their loses against the DI varsity teams were just small hiccups in their 7s seasons. However, it was Drexel who made the biggest splash, taking second at the MARC 7s that surprised their competition in the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference.
Penn State prop Hope Rogers has been named as the first-ever MA Sorensen Award Winner as the best women’s college rugby player in the country.
The award, presented by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, Wash. in conjunction with Goff Rugby Report, will be formally presented at a gala event on June 11.
